Wickens Herzer Panza Adds Intellectual Property / Grant Steyer Joins Firm as Director to Lead IP Practice

AVON, OHIO – June 16, 2021 – Wickens Herzer Panza (“WHP”) has added intellectual property to its core offerings of legal services with the addition of Grant J. Steyer, Ph.D.  Dr. Steyer will serve as the first practice area chair of the newly created Intellectual Property division at WHP and will serve on the Firm’s Board of Directors.

Dr. Steyer, previously a partner with an intellectual property boutique law firm in Cleveland, Ohio, has a broad range of experience across the various disciplines of intellectual property, including patent application preparation, patent prosecution, appeals, and trademarks.  His counsel has helped clients grow, enforce, and manage their intellectual property portfolios.  Dr. Steyer has represented and counseled clients of all sizes in a broad range of technical fields including biomedical devices, image processing, optical imaging, and the computer arts.  More recently, Dr. Steyer has advised clients with regard to artificial intelligence, machine learning, and blockchain technology.

Prior to attending law school, Dr. Steyer graduated magna cum laude from Case Western Reserve University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering.  He also received a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from Case Western Reserve University where his research focused primarily on image processing, medical and cellular imaging, image system design, fluorescence imaging, stem cell therapies, and computer aided diagnosis.  He graduated from Cleveland Marshall College of Law in 2011.
